Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as the nation struggled with
vast societal issues such as healthcare, housing, and unemployment,
many Americans left behind daily routines and entered compulsory
isolation. Yet, as access to in-person medical and cosmetic services
dwindled, the public’s fascination with personal appearance gained
momentum. At the same time, the medical aesthetics industry seized
the opportunity to expand its already multi-billion dollar footprint by
taking advantage of public fixation and lax industry regulation.
